Classic F2P Start Guide
A zero-real-money Classic start: quest-only gearing through Cruma, consumable discipline, Random Craft awareness, transformation books from play time, and why World Trade flipping often beats low-level hunting Adena.
At a glance
- 1Five to seven clients are allowed, but this guide focuses on a single main
- 2Cruma with fruits/potions is strong; without them, fall back to Ruins of Agony → Abandoned Camp
- 3Random Craft is lottery crafting — treat it as optional, not your primary gear path
- 4Track buy/sell prices in a spreadsheet before flipping event loot
- 5Transformations from 10-day play streaks are worth it only at Improved tier or higher
Character creation and first hours
Run campaign quests on your main. Pair a dwarf trader alt only when you need extra private-store slots — four slots versus three on other races.
Test Cruma once you have basic HP pots and at least second-tier fruits. If mobs kill you through autoplay, drop to Abandoned Camp until 40+.
Consumable budget
Priority spending
| Item | Why | F2P rule |
|---|---|---|
| Soulshots / spiritshots | Direct DPS | Physical shots are cheaper — factor that into class pick |
| HP pots | Survival in Cruma | Buy in bulk when prices dip after events |
| Fruits / potions | Boost windows | One set active while farming, not idle in town |
Market flipping basics
Watch which loot boxes are active. Top-listed box rewards flood World Trade and crash prices — buy low, relist after the event ends. Stop selling when margin hits zero; keep buying if you still believe in a rebound.
Transformation books
Ten consecutive days of hunting grant transformation fragments. Improved transformations that add P./M. Atk are worth powder cost; normal transformations are mostly collection filler for a F2P main.
Zero-spend leveling path
Level bands
| Levels | Zone | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | Ruins of Agony | Quest gear drops |
| 20–40 | Abandoned Camp | Adena/hour acceptable |
| 40–52 | Cruma entry | Only with HP pots |
| 52–76 | Cruma Tower / Catacombs | Best F2P ROI |
Random Craft reality
Random Craft costs 1M Adena plus five rolled items for a 20% pick-one reward. Use it to offload junk, not as a gear plan. Stable gear comes from quest boxes, Adena shop upgrades, and World Trade +4/+5 sets.
Fields of Glory macro route
At 74+, place cat anchors on both ends of the mob line. Macro teleport between markers every 25 minutes so packs respawn behind you. Works for F2P mains with time but not attention-heavy market hours.
Using allowed clients wisely
Seven clients are allowed; this guide uses five in examples. One main plus one dwarf trader plus one buffer alt is the pragmatic F2P setup — not fourteen farmers.
Starter cube items
If you receive a starter weapon from promotional cubes, ride it until +4 before replacing. Do not scatter cube shots across alts — feed the main.
