What works on skills · crit targets · artifacts · jewelry · Homunculus

Live Skillcaster Gear Box (Tank / DK / Archer / Iss)

Practical Live loadout for skill-damage kits (Sigel / Death Knight / Yul / skill Iss / other non-auto, non-dagger DPS): which stats count, how much P. Skill crit rate you need, artifact and charm priorities, gems, jewelry, talismans, and cooldown Homunculus picks.

At a glance

  1. 1Normal-attack power and normal crit damage do nothing on pure skill kits — buy P. Skill lines instead
  2. 2Skillcasters are the expensive cluster: you cannot skip skill cooldown or P. Skill crit rate
  3. 3Three red attack artifacts are fixed: P. Skill Power · P. Atk · P. Skill Critical Damage
  4. 4Aim ~70% attack / ~30% defense investment — all-in attack eventually taxes you harder on defense
  5. 5Homunculus default: Ari (CD + power + attribute) · Angel/Pegasus for long-term Adena/XP/CD

Stats that actually hit skills

Modifier cheat sheet

StatHow it behaves on skills
% P. Atk1% ≈ 1% damage
Weapon P. AtkDiminishing — each next chunk is worth less (same family as soulshot-style additive curves)
P. Skill Power1% ≈ 1%
P. Skill Critical Damage1% ≈ 1%
Normal Attack Power / normal Crit DamageDead stats on pure skill kits
Soulshot / charge damageAdditive with itself — 20% + 23% = 43%, not ~50%
PvE / PvP damage · dealt damage1% ≈ 1%
Back / side damage1% ≈ 1% when the angle applies
Damage to immobilized1% vs hold / stun / paras / similar
Attribute attack~10 attr ≈ 1.5% while inside ~±230 of the target’s defense attribute; outside the window = 0

P. Skill crit rate targets

Skillcasters have the weakest built-in crit package of the common damage types. Treat crit-rate plugs as mandatory fillers until you stop missing crits in the zones you farm.

Focus +20 (community estimate)
Use ~14% effective base (20 ÷ 1.4) when reading crit tables
No Focus +20
Treat base ≈ 10%
Confidence
Orientation numbers from community — update if you have clean parses
Practice
Stack crit rate harder than an auto kit would; this archetype starts behind

Artifacts & dyes

3 red attack artifacts
P. Skill Power · P. Atk · P. Skill Critical Damage — no flex
Balances
Same three lines + crit-rate fillers as hard as inventory allows · one ~11% power piece
Defense artifacts
Do not zero them — long-term all-attack sheets force ugly defense catch-up
Split heuristic
~70% attack budget / ~30% defense options
Dyes
Only 5th-tier attack dyes: P. Skill Power · P. Atk · P. Skill Crit Damage
Skip
3rd/4th paid dyes — sit on free CHA/DEX nines until you can buy fifths (max CHA/DEX package + the −1 style 3%/3% offense/defense perk)

Zodiac charms & brooch gems

Core triad
Leo · Cancer · Aries
Next
Taurus (defense that also adds damage when enhanced) · CHA · Fairy
Late swap
Fairy → enhanced Sagittarius or Fish at +5 for ~3% skill cooldown
Brooch reds
Two attack reds (Ruby path / matching skill-crit reds)
Aquamarine
Always — cooldown
Vital Stone
Default on; swap to Garnet in heavy-debuff ToI pulls if needed
Opal
Until attribute cover is done (~2500 sessions / ~3000 hard PvE), then drop
After Opal
Artificial Yellow Amber first — Elemental Orb-style paid monthlies are optional and rarely worth it on work characters
Emerald
Tertiary for most skillcasters (better on knives/archers) — fine if you already own it, not a rush buy

Zodiac charm jobs

CharmPriorityWhat it solvesClass note
LeoCorePhysical skill offenseUniversal skillcaster piece
CancerCoreDurability and stable damage uptimeEspecially comfortable on tanks and melee DK

Sagittarius / Fish +5Late swapRoughly 3% skill cooldownUse when it closes permanent limit uptime

Soul crystals & weapon SA

Crystal progression

StagePiece / lineReason to stop here
1 — MasiaAccessible fifth-tier foundationGets real fifth-tier value online without waiting for the final expensive set
2 — EvaSecond efficient fifth-tier layerBalances the early board and remains useful during a long upgrade cycle
3 — TercyP. Skill Critical Damage; Might/P. Atk where applicableInstalls the damage-type line skillcasters actually scale
4 — Pa’agrio ChestFirst final armor slotLargest practical entry into the expensive finish
5 — Pa’agrio LegsSecond final armor slotContinue only after the build’s crit/CD requirements are safe
6 — Pa’agrio support slotShield/sigil-equivalent class slotClass-compatible completion piece
7 — Pa’agrio HelmFinishLast of the common body sequence

Jewelry priorities

Practical early–mid set

SlotBuy
Ring AFallen Angel +9 (not +8, not +10) → bless later for ~+2% damage
Ring BAngel +6 with 3rd attribute (bless when richer) — attribute + damage efficiency is excellent for the price
Earring AFallen Angel +6 with 3rd Silenite — star piece; often cheaper finished than inserting Silenite yourself
Earring BBlessed Angel +9 or Dragon +3 — Silenite on this side is not worth overpaying early; pick price
NecklaceMax skill cooldown first — Blessed +9 with 3rd Silenite if cheap, else Blessed +9, else Dragon necklace. CD > everything
Tank adjustment
Keep cooldown jewelry, but choose the second ear and Elset rolls with HP/defense pressure in mind
Archer adjustment
Push crit-rate coverage and cooldown first; the second ring’s attribute stays valuable in harder zones
DK adjustment
Treat cooldown as transformation/limit uptime and avoid sacrificing melee stability for a marginal damage roll
Blessing order
Bless established breakpoints after the full five-slot set works; do not perfect one ring while other slots are empty
  • Brooch Elset: if you catch 2–4% damage, keep it. Do not dump bags of Elset into early jewelry.

Talismans

Progression
Golden Tree (damage/stats/CD) → swap into Heavenly · park Golden Tree into the attribute collection
Benir
Lv.12 is baseline
Sayha
Buy enhanced Sayha early — skip mid +8/+10 stepping stones you cannot resell cleanly
Strong temp
Skill power (30-day) when event/auction stock is cheap — stock a year if prices are down
Flexible slot
Seven Seals (~50 attribute attack · resist · flat def) or a 30-day attribute talisman (~70 atk attr) — Seals age better as a permanent
Opportunistic
Fortress (~5%) / Wind talismans when World Trade prices are sane

Homunculus

Phys skillcaster picks

Before

Need attribute + damage + CD → Ari (best blend: attribute, skill power, skill cooldown)

After

Want Adena/XP with CD on a small sheet → Pegasus / Angel; Angel’s later crit-rate upgrade pays on high ToI / 126 content

Sort pure damage and Ari is not always #1 — but skillcasters must value the cooldown line, so Ari stays the default attack pet.

Example full shopping priorities

Shop to solve attribute, skill crit, cooldown, and survival in that order only when each is the current bottleneck. Tanks, archers, Death Knights, and Iss skill builds use the same modifier logic but should not force the same defense budget.

Early shopping list: establish the rotation

PriorityBuy or completeReason / stop condition
1Weapon with matching P. Skill options and enough attack attributeReach the farm zone’s useful attribute window before chasing marginal damage
2Opal and yellow attack-attribute artifactsKeep flexible attribute sources until combat tests show the zone remains covered without them
3P. Skill Critical Rate weapon SA and balance fillersSkillcasters begin crit-starved; remove rate only after the target zone stays stable
4P. Skill Critical Damage weapon SAPair rate with the full-value skill-critical multiplier; skip normal Critical Damage
5Three red artifacts: P. Skill Power → P. Skill Critical Damage → P. AtkComplete the fixed skill core and avoid normal-attack-only artifacts
6Aquamarine and an always-on skill cooldown talismanBuild limit and main-skill uptime before luxury P. Atk
7Fallen Angel +9 first ring and Angel +6 attribute second ringEstablish affordable damage and attribute breakpoints across both slots
8Fallen Angel +6 Silenite earringBuy the completed cooldown ear when it costs less than self-inserting the option
9Second ear plus maximum-cooldown necklace you can affordUse Blessed/Dragon options by actual price; cooldown is the decision
10Leo, Cancer, Aries, then TaurusBuild the core charm package; tanks may raise Taurus earlier for stability
11Golden Tree, baseline 'Benir', and 'Enhanced Sayha'Favor durable endpoints and skip temporary mid-grade Sayha steps
12HP/P. Def balance artifacts and recoveryKeep enough defense that the rotation continues without deaths or constant manual healing

Mid shopping list: strengthen every slot

PriorityBuy or completeReason / stop condition
1Masia → Eva fifth-tier foundationInstall efficient real upgrades instead of leaving slots weak while saving for the final set
2'Tercy' for P. Skill Critical DamageAdd the damage-type crystal that scales the actual rotation
3Pa’agrio Chest → Legs → compatible support slot → HelmFollow the practical body sequence after crit and cooldown remain safe
4Two appropriate attack brooch gems plus Vital StoneRaise offense while retaining the sustain needed for long pulls
5Garnet as a content swapUse it when heavy debuffs remove more throughput than a direct damage gem adds
6Bless the established Fallen +9 ringPerfect a proven ring only after the full jewelry set is functional
7Blessed Angel +9 or Dragon +3 second earringSelect by price, defense needs, and useful options rather than name alone
8'Heavenly' and stronger 'Benir'Replace Golden Tree, then use Golden Tree for its attribute collection path
9Permanent Seven Seals-style attribute/defense utilityPrefer a durable flexible slot when it prevents carrying recurring temporary costs
10Ari Homunculus progressionThe attribute, skill power, and cooldown blend supports most physical skill rotations
11Class-specific defense packageTank: HP/P. Def/received damage; archer: range safety; DK: melee sustain; Iss: support stability

Late shopping list: convert solved requirements

PriorityBuy or completeReason / stop condition
1Replace excess crit-rate fillers with P. Atk or P. Skill PowerConvert only after field parses remain capped through zone penalties
2Replace Opal with Artificial Yellow AmberDo this only when all intended farms remain above their attribute floor
3Enhanced Sagittarius/Fish-style cooldown charmUse the roughly 3% cooldown only when it closes permanent limit uptime
4Finish Pa’agrio and fifth-tier dye packageComplete P. Skill Power, P. Atk, and P. Skill Critical Damage without sacrificing stability
5Final cooldown jewelry and blessing workCompare a Blessed +9 Silenite neck with Dragon alternatives by actual rotation uptime
6Higher artifacts and direct-damage gemsPreserve the approximate 70/30 attack-defense discipline unless the class role demands more defense
7Zone-specific resistance swapsCarry Garnet and defensive options when control or incoming damage is the real throughput cap
8Objective Homunculus swapMove from Ari to Angel or Pegasus only when Adena/XP utility beats lost combat consistency
9Separate class presetsMaintain tank, archer, DK, and Iss priorities independently instead of forcing one final sheet

Example loadouts by archetype

These are priority packages, not fixed item mandates. Keep attribute and crit requirements tied to the target zone.

Class-specific priority packages

ArchetypeOffenseDefense / utilityHomunculus
TankThree red skill cores; Leo/Cancer/Aries/Taurus; one or two attack gemsHP/P. Def balances · defensive second ear · max-CD neck · Vital Stone/GarnetAri; 'Cow' only when PvP mitigation changes survival
ArcherAggressive crit-rate balances · two attack reds · Opal→Amber · skill-power tempAquamarine and Silenite for permanent limits; Garnet by zoneAri; Angel after damage is sufficient
Death KnightThree skill cores · two attack reds after sustain · attribute until coveredCancer/Taurus stability · cooldown ear/neck · melee HP/defenseAri; test 'Diavalnok' only after CD and attribute are solved
Ability order
P. Skill Power → zone-stable skill crit rate → cooldown → % P. Atk/dealt damage
Tank AP shift
Move remaining points into HP, P. Def, and received-damage reduction
Avoid AP
Normal-attack power, normal crit damage, and excessive flat weapon attack
Retest
Recheck crit and attribute after changing zone or removing a filler

Linked names open L2Playbook pages when that skill, item, class, NPC, or zone exists in the database. Values can change with patches — always double-check in-game.

FAQ

Who is this box for?+

Anyone whose damage is mostly P. Skills / skill crits: tanks that skill-nuke, Death Knights, archers, skill-oriented Iss, gladiator-style skill kits, etc. Not auto-attack mains and not Othell dagger Perfect builds.

Do normal-attack stats help?+

No. Normal Attack Power and normal Critical Damage do not apply to skills. Buy percent P. Atk, weapon P. Atk (diminishing), P. Skill Power, and P. Skill Critical Damage instead.

How much P. Skill crit rate do I need?+

Community working numbers (not lab-verified): Focus +20 skills behave closer to ~14% base crit (20÷1.4) than 20% or 10%. Unenchanted Focus baseline is treated as ~10%. Skillcasters start with the lowest crit package of the damage types — stack crit-rate fillers until the zone’s −crit cuts are covered.

Which Homunculus?+

'Ari' is the default attack + cooldown pick (attribute, skill power, skill cooldown). Pegasus / Angel lines are excellent when you want Adena/XP with cooldown. Angel’s later upgrade adding crit rate matters on high floors / 126 orcs.

Can I ignore cooldown gear?+

No. Skillcasters live on permanent limits (sword-up styles, poems, future archer limit uptime, etc.). Keep a cooldown talisman on, Silenite on jewelry when possible, Aquamarine in the brooch, and a CD Homunculus.

Which Zodiac charms should I build?+

Start with 'Leo', 'Cancer', and 'Aries'. Add 'Taurus' because its enhanced defensive package also contributes damage. CHA and Fairy are fillers; a sufficiently enhanced Sagittarius/Fish-style cooldown charm can replace Fairy when permanent limit uptime is the bottleneck.

What is the soul-crystal progression?+

Use Masia → Eva → Tercy → Pa’agrio. Tercy supplies P. Skill Critical Damage; finish Pa’agrio Chest → Legs → compatible support slot → Helm. Do not delay all fifth-tier value while saving for the final set.

Should a tank copy an archer loadout?+

No. The offensive stat families are shared, but the budget split is different. A tank keeps HP, P. Def, received-damage, and control stability; an archer pushes crit rate, P. Skill Power, range uptime, and cooldown. Copy the modifier logic, not the exact defense balance.

Where do ability points go?+

First buy the efficient core nodes that affect P. Skills, then enough crit-rate and cooldown support to make the rotation work. Put remaining points into P. Atk/P. Skill Power or HP/defense according to the class. Flat weapon attack and normal-attack-only nodes are poor choices for a pure skill preset.

When can I replace crit rate with P. Atk?+

Only after real combat in the target zone shows stable skill crits through its penalties. Sheet overcap in town is not proof. Keep a swappable crit-rate piece for harder zones instead of permanently converting every slot.

Is the Dragon necklace always best?+

Cooldown is the decision. A Blessed +9 necklace with third-option Silenite can beat a more prestigious piece for limit uptime; a Dragon necklace is the practical fallback when its complete damage and cooldown package is better at the current price.
