Live Community Q&A (July 2026)
Practical answers from the Live community this week: solid class duos for newer players, gearing priority for casters, whether Forgotten Skills are worth the Adena, PK mechanics, multi-boxing tips, and more.
At a glance
- 1Best starter duo: DPS + ISS Hierophant (healer/buffer). Optional third: Bishop-type buffer
- 2Wolf and Crow are top PvE DPS with investment; Wynn Summoner strong at zero/low investment
- 3Gearing priority for Wynn: M.Crit Rate → M.Skill Damage → M.Crit Damage (M.Atk is distant 4th)
- 4Virtual Points stop working at Lv.120 — don't buy extensions for characters near that threshold
- 5Pet evolution: Devil for combat power, Pegasus for Adena generation and cooldown efficiency
Overview
Pulled from community Discord chat across Live this week. Practical answers that help players play the game — build advice, mechanics clarifications, how-tos, and gear priorities.
This Q&A captures what experienced Live players are saying about early-game choices, class synergies, and mid-game gear progression. Focus on strategies that work with in-game shops, World Trade, and no regional cash-shop requirements.
Class combos & party setup
Starter duos (1–2 accounts)
- DPS + ISS Hierophant is the most common recommendation — the healer provides survivability and buffs with fewer controls than full Dominator rotations.
- A third buffer (Bishop/Aeore support) is nice-to-have but not essential. Multiple experienced players ranked healers as more valuable than a third buffer if you're deciding what to add next.
Top solo/farm classes
- Wolf (Garou Waker)
- Top pick for lower-gear solo farming — simple auto-attack, tanky, excellent Adena farmer
- Crow (Samurai)
- Strongest at Lv.120+, especially with Omen buffs — requires investment in weapon and gear to shine
- Wynn Summoner
- Solid at zero/low investment — competitive early, falls behind Wolf/Crow post-120 without gear
- Othell (Dagger)
- Raw single-target burst — weak party utility, solo farming is good
Gearing priorities & stat order
Caster gearing order (Wynn example)
- Priority 1
- Weapon (well-augmented weapon = most damage)
- Priority 2
- Circlet (major stat boost)
- Priority 3
- Dyes (stat boosts)
Wynn caster stat priority
| Rank | Stat | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | M.Crit Rate | Most impactful early — enables spell proc builds |
| 2nd | M.Skill Damage | Powers up actual spell output |
| 3rd | M.Crit Damage | Damage multiplier on crits |
| 4th | M.Atk | Distant priority despite intuition |
What's worth buying early
Forgotten Skills — skip early
Multiple experienced players advised against investing in Forgotten Skills before you already have solid core gear. They're too expensive as a priority item.
- Prioritize: weapon → armor → circlet → dyes. Add Forgotten Skills later when Adena farming is healthy.
Pet evolution
- Devil evolution
- Best for raw combat power — more defense and damage
- Pegasus evolution
- Best for Adena generation and cooldown efficiency
- When to evolve
- Only evolve once you have enough evolution points for Lv.5. Lower-level evolved pets underperform your base pet.
Heaven vs Insanity vs Seven Sing
Heaven is an upgraded version of Insanity — equipping both gives no additional effect. Only one tier applies at a time.
Game mechanics & systems
Virtual Point scaling & cost
- Cost
- Roughly $40 USD = 100 Virtual Points (via in-game shop)
- Level cap
- Virtual Points/equipment stop working entirely at Lv.120
- Key decision
- Don't buy extensions for characters about to hit 120 — the investment is wasted
Virtual Point quest rewards (Lurin/Hesed daily)
Three conditions, all required:
- (1) You must be on your **main class** (not dual/sub class)
- (2) You must be in a clan
- (3) You must actually **kill** the relevant boss (Lurin/Hesed) — simply entering the instance doesn't count
Multi-boxing on low-end hardware
- Window mode
- Play in windowed mode (not full screen) to run multiple clients smoothly
- AFK macros
- Set up farm macros so you don't need to be at the keyboard constantly
- Result
- Multiple accounts on one PC becomes practical and manageable
Tank classes & survivability
- Hell Knight (HK)
- Best for pure survivability
- Evas Templar (ET)
- Best overall for tanking
- Shillien Templar / Storm Screamer
- Best raw DPS among tanks (depending on optimization)
Tank role depends on your party and intent. PvE tanks lean survivability; PvP tanks stack HP + stances + burst. All three work as main solo classes once geared.
Leveling & farming routes
XP farming outside ToI and Dimensional Trials
- Group Dimensional Trials (DT)
- Most efficient if you can find/form a party
- Rift
- Viable solo if you can handle Lv.115+ mobs
- Cemetery
- Safest option if essentially solo
- Valley of Saints
- Viable if you can join/form a Lv.118 party
Weapon & SA setup for casters
Recommended combo on an R110-tier weapon at solid enchant level:
- Two Lv.6–8 Soul Crystal SAs for M.Crit Rate and M.Crit Rate/M.Crit Damage (Mermoden and Pantheon mentioned as examples)
- At least one Lv.5 Shilen SA on the weapon itself
Entry-level gear targets
Starting kit for a fresh 105+ character (from veteran players):
- Weapon
- +12 'bloody' weapon
- Cloak
- +7 to +10 cloak
- Gems
- Greater Gems
- Artifact Book
- Filled in (can be mostly +0 initially)
Build up from this foundation rather than trying to jump straight to top-tier gear.
Red zone & special notes
Red zone homunculus/summon system
Confirmed not implemented on Live. That UI element exists in the client but only functions on other server versions (Classic / other variants). If you see it and can't interact, that's expected — it's not a bug on your end.
Linked names open L2Playbook pages when that skill, item, class, NPC, or zone exists in the database. Values can change with patches — always double-check in-game.
